Midcounties Co Op funding to continue

Staff and customers of Midcounties Co Op food stores and childcare settings have been raising money for Stroud Valleys Project (SVP) since June last year, with over £4,000 raised so far.

SVP was selected by Midcounties Co Op members as the area’s charity fundraising partner, with the partnership originally due to last 12 months.

This week, however, Midcounties Co Op announced that they would be continuing the partnership for another year, with fundraising drives, events and collections for the people-powered conservation charity now due to continue until June 2025.

SVP’s CEP Clare Mahdiyone says, “The team from Midcounties came to see us in March and we showed them just a little of what we do across our district.

“They enjoyed their trip to Stroud, especially to our Sensory Garden in Stratford Park, and they were particularly impressed by our volunteers, who told them all about the work they’ve done on the site over the years.

We’re so grateful to them for continuing to support our work, and enabling us to get more people in our area learning new skills and improving our green spaces, for people and for nature.”

Midcounties Co Op’s Olly Wiltshire adds, “Our partnership with groups just like SVP helps us to tell the story locally of the impact that the support has… we aim to inspire more people to get involved, join in, and recognise that by working together and by supporting and shopping with us, we can truly bring to life our Society’s purpose …‘through the power of co-operation we’re building a fairer, more sustainable and ethical future’.”
