SVP triumph at inaugural community awards

Stroud Valleys Project were named Environmental Project of the Year at a glistening local awards ceremony last week.

The very first Stroud News and Journal Community Awards were held at Stonehouse Court Hotel on Thursday 22 June, with plaudits given out across a wide range of categories.

Stroud Valleys Project were nominated in the Environmental Project of the Year category, alongside Stonehouse in Bloom and Access Bike.

“We were surprised and delighted to win this prize, which recognises the work of our amazing volunteers and staff across our district,” said CEO Clare Mahdiyone, pictured with National Grid environmental adviser Andy Martyr-Icke, who presented the award.

“We’re huge admirers of both Stonehouse in Bloom and Access Bike, and to be included in the category alongside two such worthy contenders just shows what a strong environmental focus we have in our Stroud community.

“Thanks to everyone who nominated us, to the judges for selecting us as the winner, and to Stroud News and Journal and Stonehouse Court for being such gracious hosts.”
